International Seerat Conference on

The Services of Seerat of Sufis in the Indian Subcontinent

29-30 October 2025
AIOU, Islamabad, Pakistan

Conference Overview

The Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ is the foundation of the true understanding of Islam, which plays a fundamental role in the intellectual and practical reform of the Muslim Ummah. In the Indian Subcontinent, the role of the Sufis has been extremely important in the propagation and dissemination of Islam based on the Seerah Tayyibah. Through the written and practical promotion of the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ, the Sufis have promoted not only spiritual and moral reform but also social harmony in this region. The imprint of the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ is deeply embedded in the Sufi literature of the Subcontinent, which is why the services of the Sufis in the field of moral reform and the acceptance of Islam by non-Muslims have been widely acknowledged. In this context, the Department of Seerat Studies, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, is organizing a two-day international conference on the topic of Sufi Seerah Writing in the Subcontinent. In this conference, scholarly discussions and research on various important topics related to the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ will be presented. Experts and researchers from different countries of the Subcontinent are invited to write papers so that the services of the Sufis in Seerah and their impact can be highlighted and this scholarly heritage can be brought to light. This conference will prove to be a milestone in the promotion of the Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ and the understanding and dissemination of Islamic teachings, and will play a prominent role in the intellectual and practical development of the Muslim Ummah.
